Handbags Handbags Everywhere?

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hi,

I have a side business importing beaded handbags.

I work full-time for a large company but have done two trade shows for my handbag business on the side.

Given limited time I am wondering what the best way is to distribute the bags and keep the business growing. People love the hand beading and my goal is to grow the business enough to support myself.

I am interested in any distribution models or thoughts in order to generate sales and awareness.

Thanks so much!

I have a friend who started importing beaded bags. He works with manufacturer's reps. His success is in getting them into the hands of the buyer. Pictures, etc just don't work.

My wife and I started a handbag factory in Banda Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia, this was a continuation of the tsunami Relief work I was doing since January 2005.
We offer our handbags at local events and trade shows, looking for sales reps as well. From what I hear, it is very important that you get the right reps to handle your bags, otherwise it will just be another line they are offering.
We also sell online via our website, www.laga-handbags.com.
Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Most of our profits go back to Indonesia to provide more jobs and hope for a better future for the survivors of the tsunami.
Wishing you the best with your new venture.
    Roy
