Please Give Me Your Opinion On A Potential Logo...

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I'm trying to decide on a logo for my personal training business.

I'm a rank "Beginner" at both marketing design, and creative art. However, I understand that design for marketing, and design to satisfy my personal appeal are completely different things.

This is the original design that I liked:

I asked for a few changes; putting the tag-line above the words personal trainer, and also for a font that was a little easier to read.

I decided that I prefer the designer's original arrangement and had her move the tag-line back to it's original spot.

I like the new tag line font better, but I prefer the solid coloring of the words "personal trainer" as shown in the first logo.

I also think that the red might be a better choice for me then the silver.

Original word placement with new tag-line font:

I decided against the cursive tag line font because my Japanese girlfriend couldn't read it.

What do you think of the original tag line font? Would you have changed it too?

If I choose the new font with the original arrangement, do you think I should have the designer change the words "personal trainer" back to a solid red (like the original) instead of the fade that is seen the revision?

Which placement would you choose; the first or the revised?

Thank you so much for your help!

Here is what I originally asked for:

What is the full name as you want it on your logo?

Chris Ranes Personal Trainer

Do you want any slogans or taglines on your logo?

inspire. believe. achieve.

What service or product do you provide?

I am a personal trainer. I specialize in fat loss, and training for speed, agility, and quickness, but that's not all I do.

I'm highly technical and other trainers frequently asked me for advice when I worked in a large health club chain.

My peers would consider me aggressive in my training style and the most conservative of trainers out there might say I push too hard.

My clients would tell you that training with me was the biggest physical challenge they've ever faced but that they had a lot of fun doing it.

I don't force anyone to do anything and I don't yell at anyone.

I'm easy to understand and I talk to people like people.

My "typical results" with fat loss clients are like the before & after pictures you see in magazines and wonder if they are real.

What is your target audience?

People choose to train with me because they know I get great results. I'm fun, fast paced (for those that can handle it), very challenging, and very effective.

I train mostly women between the ages of 25-45 but don't get the wrong idea. I'm really not trying to attract wimps.

I work with both male and female clients currently ranging in age from 11-75+, from complete beginner to professional athletes including a professional K1/MMA fighter, other trainers, pro/former pro athletes, businessmen, lawyers, doctors, teachers, housewives, a kid here and there, and an occasional celebrity, or Hawaiian Princess.

What style would you like your logo to be? Would you like unique text, an icon with the name included in it, an icon with the name next to it, an illustration, or a different style?

I toyed with the idea of having my web address www.myfitnesswithchris.com in it and also thought about adding the word certified before personal trainer and not having a tagline but I think its just too busy.

An icon with the name next to it looks nice in my head but I'm open to ideas.

Layout is at the designers discretion.

Do you want any specific ideas implemented into your logos?

Up to designers discretion.

Colors should match the theme I'm going to use.

Please see below.

*

What should come to a customers mind when they see your logo?

They should feel inspired to take action, confident, and some excitement since they just found a very special trainer that's going to completely change their body and life.

I make amazing things happen fast.

*

Is there anything you would not like to see in your logo?

I don't usually like the fitness stick figures, barbells or dumbells in a logo, but I'm open minded.

I don't want to limit your creativity by putting restrictions here.

I definitely don't want a bodybuilder guy in my logo because that's not what I'm about at all.

Other than that, layout is at the designers discretion.

*

How will the logo be used?

Website, business cards, stationary, etc.

*

Do you have any files or images pertaining to your contest that you want the designers to view?

I'm going to use this theme:

Logo is gonna go right where the word Revolution is. Please match so I don't need to modify. I'm a fitness expert. I suck at this computer stuff.

What format do you want your logo to be designed in (ai, psd, corel etc..)

I thought I get both from this? I don't really know. I'm a beginner at this stuff. I don't care as long as I can use it for the above stated purposes.

    Chris,
I agree with Square Peg - A solid color works best. That way you are always assured that printing will turn out well. The less fussy an image the better.

I personally prefer the PERSONAL TRAINER above the tagline. Your eye naturally goes there for information and it is good that what your business is - is immediately evident. Then the tagline supports who you are.

It's an excellent arrangment and design.
    Best of luck!

I actually like the idea of silver for the text (although a shade or two darker than what was used in the mock-up) - makes me think of free weights and gym equipment.

Wow! You folks here are fast. I really appreciate the quick responses.

My decided plan is to stick with the solid red color, and probably the original placement with the tag-line above like the original design.

It could be the way my brain sees 5 = 3 + 2 but for whatever reason, I much prefer the tag above the words personal trainer.

    Thanks for the help!
