History: My parents own a family owned and operated Italian restaurant that caters gluten-free food to customers who have a gluten-intolerance such as Celiac disease. We started serving gluten-free Italian food because my mom has Celiac disease and thought we could make a profit from selling it to the Celiac community around our restaurant. The restaurant, Caffe Baldo, is somewhat well known in the Celiac community. We have had people come from all over the U.S to eat at our restaurant. I am trying not to use Caffe Baldo as my company's name. Many of the customer's know my mom's name, Joanne. My mom also puts a smiley face on the take-out/doggy bags that are gluten-free.
Customers: Americans who have a gluten-intolerance, are on a gluten-free diet, and/or have Celiac disease.
My products will sell because there is no other company that sells Italian case-ready meals in the gluten-free marketplace. My product is similar to Lean Cuisine. Frozen meals ready to be microwaved. FYI, the gluten-free food does not taste like cardboard, like so many gluten-free products do. The dishes actually taste very good. Foods that will be marketed are Chicken Parm, Chicken Marsala, Lasagna, Ziti alla Vodka, Garlic Knots, and maybe Pizza. These food products are already sold in our restaurant and receive great compliments from our gluten-free customers.
Location: We reside in Wantagh, NY (Long Island).
Future Market: E-commerce
