Soliciting Opinion On B2b List Provider

I work in the WASTEWATER industry (industrial, commercial, institutional and occasionally commercial) primarily in US/Canada and Australian markets.

Databases and list rentals are EXTREMELY difficult to come by in this very fragemented sector. Recently, I came acroos the following company providing lists on the industrial wastewater sector in the US.

McIlvaine Co.,

They seem to provide various services : list segementation, email, mail etc. Has anyone every worked with this group, if so, could you please provide me your opinion on: list quality, cost-effectiveness, list performance?, value vs. cost, company itself?

If you have never heard of them before - any suggestions for further background checking is much appreciated.

    Hello, MM --

    My company has a product for the water/wastewater industry (field data collection by cell phone), and we have begun to use leads in the "public domain." In other words, we've contacted environmental and other agencies to get lists of water operators. We've also used the state register (online here in Texas) to pinpoint companies who've had to pay hefty non-compliance FINES in the last year.

    Gov data is generally a mess, but it's free (web query downloads) or cheap ($40 for data processing time at the state agency). We paid somebody about $300 to clean it up and make it workable.

    The data we purchased from D&B/Hoovers was useless because the SIC and NAICS codes for this industry seem to be used inconsistently.

    I've never heard of McIlvaine, but I'll ask our sales director to check them out. Meanwhile, I hope these other ideas are useful!
