Company Purchased Using The Same Trademark?

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Our company is purchasing another company that specializes in one of the products that we lack success in selling. We have a trademark/symbol and our company's name as othe logo. We need to redesign the other company's logo but wonder if we should use the same trademark and same or different fonts for the name. I read the question "Using Parent Brand Name" and it was insightful. But our situation is different since we are keeping their name for now but MAY eventually drop theirs and use only ours.

I assume that the company was purchased because it did a good job at what it does. I would think it therefore has good brand recognition. I would not change the name but add "a division of the parent company" behind their current name. I don't think I would change the logo either since that is what people know.

I completely agree with Phil G. If the logo is too old then just tweak it a little bit. Don't change it to the point to were it cannot be recognized by their regular customers. I think you should tweak the logo and do Phil G's idea... good luck to you and your company!
