Company Anniversary

Posted by larry.sebbens on 50 Points
We are an investment management firm celebrating our 60th Anniversary this year. Outside of employee event, anyone done anything unique or interesting to celebrate a milestone like this? We already offer free consultations, etc. so that can't be an offer. Looking for something that 1) celebrates event 2) involves employees 3) generates favorable publicity in city. One suggestion is to award each employee $500 and let them dontate to charity or cause of their choosing.

I actually really like the charity idea. I would tie it into the idea of 60 more. Allocate them each $600 or $60 for every year of employment or something that relates to the 60.

I like the idea of this because it is externally focused. Sometimes companies like to beat their own drum to much.

The PR piece can be attached to this if done right. Newspapers are always in need or a positive story so there is a good chance they would pick this up. You could spotlight some of the employees and why they chose the charity they did. The newspaper or radio is will like it more it you can personalize it, thus the idea of individuals. You may even want to take out a newspaper ad about the 60th anniversary and the donation (giving back to the community that made you so successful ...) I am not wording it well, but you get the idea.

i think you need to leverage on your service savvyness.

i mean, celebrate your service delivery over the years by involving your team of frontline staffs and even management. By doing this you are portraying your organisation as understanding the importance world class service delivery to your clients and also appreciating your staff for delivering this exceptional service over the years.

We just did an anniversary, with a few initiatives tied in to our brand values.

We made a documentary about the company, focusing on our innovations over our history, and what we predict will happen in the industry in the future.

We created a new value, and will distribute gifts to employees that focus on that value (sustainability).

I'm doing a "write your own rally cry" contest for employees that's similar to Harley Davidson's (just google it, you'll see what it is).

We also had an idea to have a "party around the world", filming celebrations in all of our international offices over the course of 24 hours -- but didn't have the budget for that. :-/
