Promotional Items

Posted by aaroncagen on 25 Points
We have a tradeshow/seminar coming up and I need to get some promo items to give away.

We market IT services to upper-level execs. I want them to keep it and I want it to be memorable?

Any inspiration?

if your spending limits are high...
I believe a flip cam would be very memorable. Especially if it came loaded with a vide thanking them for attendance.

if your spending limits are low -
i believe a gift certificate from starbucks or some other upscale retailer would be good.

Budgets are critical - I went cheaper than memory sticks.

How about a stress "ball" but it is shaped like a computer. Or maybe a nerf hammer to whack the H--- out of your computer when it doesn't listen to you. They also make stress "balls" in the shape of a hammer.

As I look at my desk, I note a calculator, coasters, quality pens, post-its, a screen cleaner, letter opener, calendar, the Energizer Bunny and a California Raisin playing sax.

    Good Luck!

A pair of small binoculars. Or maybe a really nice desk paperweight shaped like a computer. Or how about a nice computer briefcase with company logo.

    Enjoy.

I used to run tradeshows for a living and for cooperate gifts, depending on your industry, I usually recommend an iPOD and Bose headphones that relieve travelers of noise around them. They can't hear the plane, and if you are meeting with exec level then they travel often. Since I have worked in the tech industry, I always hear people say....not another memory stick, I have 8 million already. That is a typical gift for tradeshow attendees. You could advance that to the level of an incrypted hard drive that requires a fingerprint to open the files once logged into the computer. Also, if it's lost hackers can't access sensitive data b.c of the encryption. These are new, very nice, and small. Perfect for your exec traveler.

    hi!
I thnk you can give branded pen as these are most required and memorable as they would be using it everyday
and aslo you can give harddisk or pendrive for storing memory

How about an iPod w/company logo then preload the iPod with your company information such as product releases, etc. You might also consider an iTunes gift card or iPod accessories.

    Thanks, these are great ideas.

I'm thinking these would be good for closing warm/hot prospects.

Any cheaper alternatives for colder leads at tradeshows, etc.

I would use a bag, not a back pack but a bag. They can use it when walking around the show to put all their things inside and then become a walking billboard for your company. Not to mention all the other vendor's stuff get shoved inside. They can use it over and over again, and the bags themselves aren't really expensive to buy.

What is your brand? What are you trying to communicate to your customers/ prospects? I think that message should inform your promo decision.

For example, you want to tell people that you're a trusted resource? Give them a super-secure encrypted memory stick.

You want to tell them you're convenient? Give them a Starbucks card.

You want to tell them you're "always on"? There are a lot of gadgets that stay connected to your computer or iPod or whatever. Hope that helps...

Cheaper than a pen? Let's take a different approach. You've got x number of prospects who are ready to buy, some in the sales cycle some not, and some who just want the free gift. All of but the last of them could have value to you at different times.
You need to know which ones will be valuable now or in the future. A great exhibit will draw them in long enough for you to interact and qualify them as to type of prospect or complete dud. Offer a grand prize that requires some work to get. That's the hook. Have multiple people ready to talk to every one who's standing so you can get that info. Everyone is a winner with the cheaper gift -a decent pen or one of my favorites- a magnet picture. Take photo and put head shot in a selection of super hero choices or a cartoon. You'd be surprised how many take home to their families and put on the fridge for years.

You should give away custom printed iPhone covers, you know they all have them :) The company I work for offers imprinted promotional items as well as non-imprinted.
