Rebranding A Sports Team. (process, Research, Examples)

I'm going to embark on a self-appointed task of rebranding a sports team in my country. Can you point me to some examples of sports teams being rebranded, research in this area and the process used to do the work?

    Check out minor league baseball teams. They do it all the time. Oklahoma City is good place to start.

    Also, look at the NFL; the Oilers, Browns, Rams, Cardinals..these are a few off the top of my head that recently changed names.cities, logos, jerseys, and whole States of target audiences.
