Naming A Company

I find naming a company can be a time intensive task. How long should it take for a group to come up with names for their products, companies etc ? What is the best way to brainstorm and come with new names ?

    I've come up with lots of names for Marketing Profs users here on the Marketing Profs forum. Soometimes it takes me seconds, sometimes hours, days, weeks, months to come up with amazing Zingers. I can;t explain how it happens, or why because there is no formal process I use. Sometimes an idea just pops into my head, or I'll be driving down the highway on another 36 to 72 hour road trip and BOOM, a name pops into my head. Sometimes I wake up with a thought at 3:00 am.
