Newspaper Loyalty

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I want to measure customer loyalty for a newspaper but the obvious question "Would you recommend us..." is not suitable for this case. Can anyone think of a way to measure this through a survey?

Thanks

You can go on the street and ask. This would produce very realistic results. Or you can do a give away in return for the survey, say, a prize draw for te first 1000 people that call a toll-free number or fill the survey online.

I do not think you can achieve what you desire with one question. It is going to take a series of questions. The combination of answers should give you an indication of loyalty.

Do you read the news paper regularly?
    Which paper do you read?
How long have you been reading this paper?
    Have you tried other papers?
How long did you read those?

    Hope this helps.

I think additional questions you'd ask would be:

How long do you spend reading the paper?
    What section(s) is your favorite?
How many times each week do you read the paper?
Do you read any other newspapers regularly?
Are there specific writers or features in our newspaper that you prefer among others from which you have to choose?

You have the classic question clearly. And the obvious parallel is either: Where do you tell people you get your news? (then provide the answer set relevant: ie: media type, or specific media titles)
