Flash Pricing

Posted by ReadCopy on 75 Points
Nothing to do with Macromedia, but I was wondering if anyone out there had come across the term "Flash Pricing", I have just come across this with a competitor of mine, I think I know what it means, I just wondered if anyone else had either heard of it or used it.

I know it as a term in the IT industry as a reference to "Flash Memory Chips". They are a rather popular, non-volitile, memory chip used in cell phones, PDA's etc.

jaccog, you have hit the nail on the head, thats my understanding of it too. Give the customer the pricing offer and its no longer available when they leave the building.
I think its highly unethical (christian) and frankly against our competition rules in UK Telecoms.

    Cheers guys

You flash the price on the screen real quick, and if they ask to see the price again, you increase it 10% before flashing it again. Eventually they will buy once they realize the price keeps going up the longer they delay.

Is this being confused with the term "Price Flash" - An e-mail or faxed alert to a price change up or down by a vendor to its channel partners/retail stores?

I remember a few years ago in retail, seeing faxes with a lightning flash logo and the headline "Price Flash". This was a critical alert to the store manager to drop or increase a price in response to supplier or competitor pressures.

I guess the price given in the Price Flash would be the Flash Price... The technology or methodology that puts the price together and sends the message out could be termed "Flash Pricing". Just a thought...
