Bank Sponsorship Ideas

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I work with our local county fair and, for many years, a local bank has been a major sponsor. Only the normal stuff - logo on everything, banners, announcements, ticekts, etc. However, this year I'd like to do something more with and for them. Something that gets and has people talking about them and us and their support. Do you have any ideas or are their things that you've seen in your communities that are unique or different? We're a small community of about 25,000 and they have three branches here.

Thanks in advance for your help and ideas.

The sponsorship is for branding purposes, hence the logo is all what they need

Since the slowdown of the economy, I am not sure how much is a bank willing to invest in such activities so, you could have the people in the fair use the fair money with the banks logo and special design, this would have the town talking for a while

I think you're correct to be going through this thought process, branding is about so much more than whacking a logo on something!

I think the slowdown/credit crunch/recession is the key here… it's top of people's minds at the moment. Maybe you can do something that fits with this… sponsor a book of thrifty tips… maybe utilising seniors who recall how they 'made do' during, and after the war, and during previous periods of economic uncertainty. Position it positively, everything needs to be set up as taking positive action rather than doom mongering, position your bank as part of the solution.

How about a booth where you could advise individuals on how to cut their utility bills, food bills, do deals with local restaurants and stores for discount coupons? Position this as a helpful service and not a money making one for the bank and you're on to a winner.

The other issue is one of trust. A lot of banks have lost the trust of the public, how can you use this platform to address this? Is there a stunt you can pull to demonstrate trust (sorry:this is not fully thought through… but it might spur some of your thinking.)

Final thought – ensure everything you choose to do 'fits' with your banks core values, build your brand, don't muddle & confuse it!

    Good luck.

    hi...as per my knowledge,

"All That Matters Is", "How You Handle The Situation."

There are several ways for branding. Brand is an emotional attachment and lot more that a customer has.

Just logo on all stuffs is not going to help you to create the brand image.......!!!!

    Be A Point Of Attraction:

    1. "Think - If No Foot Falls, Your Investment on Fair is ___?"

Since its a county fair & targeting on smaller community, offer free entry passes, this in turn gives you more foot falls (here you are creating interest in the Public)

    2. How about Organizing a Visitor's contest?

Organize a kind of contest that creates interest among different customer segments (here you are educating about your company and your products/services)

    3. How about Gifts?

Try to gift the visitors (preferably the cute & attractive ones) which they have never expected. (Here you are placing yourself in the visitors mind, leading to word of mouth among the public.)

    4. All these "might" result in a good result if the fair is conducted at least for 3 days.

Public Must Be Aware Of Your Programs & Offers.

Choose the ones which best suits your budget....

Let us HOPE for the Best......GOOD LUCK

A giant penny jar - guess the # of pennies to win it all.
Penny sculptures: hire an artist to glue pennies to create images of the fair: animals, rides, etc.
Penny sculpture contest. Let people create their own sculptures for entry.
    A penny stacking contest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkOJUiGWBzw

The point is to have the bank supply the pennies with the focus on money/fun.

The member responses above that state that sponsorship is more than a logo'd banner are correct. The whole point of of sponsorship is that it allows the sponsor the opportunity to reach a targeted audience - the key here is to determine what the sponsor needs really are.
    1. What do they want this target group to do?
    2. What are their objectives with this group - if its simply community goodwill then that is different than increased sales of a particular service.
    3. How can you combine the unique attributes of the fair to help them achieve their objectives?

All of the above suggestions aside...what is most important is that you understand their objectives and you tailor the sponsorship to meet those needs and your of course.

You want people to remember your bank? Have them give away a pack of mortgage payments. People will talk about it forever. And it's cheaper than a couple of plastic cups that'll be gone in a few months...
