Selecting Your Business Contacts For Telemarketing

Posted by Anonymous on 60 Points
I am looking into a telemarketing pilot for our theater's season subscription. I have a list of 2,500 potential names and need to narrow it down to 400. I am new to the telemarketing arena and would like to know if there are any suggestions on how I can most effectively cut this list down - for the best roi?

Thank you - in advance!

Is there demographic info included in your list?

If not there are services available that will augment existing lists with detailed information.

Why do you need to narrow it down?

How did you get this list? Tell us what you know about the people on it.

What other information do you have about them?

This is a list of our current patrons. It has been narrowed down from our original list of 20,000. The people on the current list attended at least one production from our 2008 season. Since we are conducting a pilot (to see how effective this avenue will be for us) I have been asked from the telemarketing company to narrow the list down to 400.

could you continue your drill down to people who've seen (X) number of shows?

    What about past years?

If you're doing a pilot to see how the whole list will perform, then you're not doing yourself a favor by trying to pick the "best" 400 names from the list. That would not be a relevant sample.

The telemarketer suggested that I take 100 from three productions and 100 from 2008 subscribers who have not subscribed to the 2009 season. Would you recommend just randomly picking 100 from the 3 productions and 2008 subscribers?

Thanks again for the assistance! :)

    Shuffle and dial.

Sometimes telemarketers want you to pull your best so they have the best chance of proving their skills. Then the rest of the list underpeforms.

    Shuffle and dial.
