Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
hi, there.

I am living in japan, sapporo. and now I am trying to start my own business. I am going to start a scrap-booking class in this year.

I studied youth marketing in my college.

but I don't what I have to do first.
also now I don't have any mentor to ask about it.
my ex-boyfriend was a designer but he doesn't help me out anymore.

if you guys know something about starting a small business, please let me know.

I don't know what should I know before starting.
I just checked the website, "entrepreneur.com."

here is my webpages that I was working for.

Start by thinking of your ideal class. How many people are in it? What ages? What gender? Why are they attending it? Why did they pick your class (instead of any of your competitors')?

Next, see if your idea is of interest to your "ideal class". Start talking to the types of people you identified and ask them about scrap-booking. Would they pay to take a class (how much)? Have they tried it before? Are they members of club or group? This will give you some idea if your ideal class is interested in you.

The "members of a club or group" questions will help you further find these ideal class members. Contact these clubs/groups and offer a special class just for their membership. Since you're starting out, consider making it a fundraiser for the group (splitting the profits) in exchange for them helping you with the advertising.

In the United States we have organizations that will match a entrepreneur with a mentor for advice or the organization provides advice through more than one resource.

See if Sapporo has business organizations or a local branch of some larger organization, and see what resources they have available. I am sure there are some organizations or associations that could help you get started.

Also, there are probably laws on getting set up as a business. Make sure you get the paperwork and steps completed properly and get some help on this, if needed. It seems trivial but the initial setup should be done with the right sort of business setup as there may be different types of legal entities you can setup as there are in the United States. You want to be sure to setup the right one for your situation.
