    What are your options?
Did your friend's work cause you/your business harm or simply frustration?
Is your friend now asking for payment/acknowledgment?

It sounds like you two need to sit down and have a talk about the past and what each of your future needs are.

Is there a way you could split the project in half?

One way to split things is to let one person split the project into two parts, and let the other person choose which part they would like to pursue. This creates a very strong incentive for the person splitting the project to do so as fairly as possible.

Naturally, we are shooting in the dark... We could give much more targeted and helpful advice if we had more details, but I wish you the best of luck in working things out with your friend.
