Imagery Representing "shaping The Future"

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We are a non-profit organization that facilitates saving lives through Organ and Tissue Donation.
We're having a professional conference with our hospital and community partners.
Our theme right now is "Shaping the Future of Donation: Working Together to Save Lives"
Could I get some advise on the theme or ideas of imagery that represents the above theme and/or "Shaping" and/or just "Shaping our Future"? Potters wheel seems too cliche.
Feel free to ask for more details. Thanks in advance everyone!

How about a painter painting a vibrant picture on a canvas of a healthy patient, donor and doctor?

Or a Dove with a heart/organ showing with a glowing yellow around it flying off into the distance...(you'll love or hate that one, but better mention whatever comes to mind since it may spur ideas)

People holding hands seems cliche but I would exlore some unique variations of that which may be useful.

Potters wheel could be good if you alter or combine it with something else so it will be unique and more powerful - of course I can't think of what...

    Hope these few blurbs/ideas helps!

If you focus your attention on "Working Together to Save Lives" instead of "Shaping the Future" you'll have a lot more to work with. "Shaping the future" is too vague. That's why it's so hard to visualize and why you're stuck with metaphors and irrelevant depictions.

My first thought was multiple hands (with money) as a mosaic that creates a person (or touches a person).

You're conference title theme could be "Increasing Donations To Save Lives" or "Increase Donations = More Lives Saved". As Michael mentioned, "shaping the future" doesn't say much.

Those are great jumping off ideas, thanks.
I am looking for something closer to a metaphor. Imagery or graphics that symbolize "shaping". I know it seems a little vague. I'm looking for something I could probably find in stock photography, preferably not something I'd have to have created. I was thinking something like shaping the soil/working in a garden? I've heard of the playdough idea etc...
Otherwise, yes if you have any ideas how to evoke the feeling of "Working Together to Save Lives", that'd be great too! Maybe change the word "working" to something else?
Here's more info on the conference:
"As we recognize the past 2 decades of saving lives, we invite you to join us to lay the foundation for the next 20 years -Sharing our collective expertise to better support families at the end of life and greatly reduce deaths on the transplant waiting list."

Well, if you're going to "lay a foundation" that begs for a building image of some kind, although that too could be fairly cliche.
Perhaps you could incorporate a "building/construction" image with the garden or blooming images. You build a garden, and I rather like combining the thought of blooming with organ and tissue donation - you help someone's life blossom!

Yes, isn't istockphoto the best website? I use it all the time.
Thank you all for the helpful suggestions. They will be quite awesome for bigger campaigns in our future.
I think we'll be going with something understated, suggesting "organic and recycling". More of the shaping soil approach.
Much thanks again and I look forward utilizing your fabulous ideas in the future!
