License On Entertainment Characters

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am asked by a client to formulate a recommandation about a license possibility. My client is a manaufacturer of chocolate figures. They want to buy a license for animation figures, so they can produce them in chocolate.
I need to advise them if they need to opt for a license agreement.
I find very few information about this on the net.
Can somebody advise me on criteria to take in account and useful free ressources on the net ?
Thx in advance

Your friend wil most definately have to obtain licenses for each character. These can be obtained by contacting the license department at the various studios who own the rights to the charcaters.

For Spiderman, Hulk, X-Men, etc, go to www.marvel.com . The for Disney, go to Disney's main website, and so on. Click around on the company info pages until you find the name and address for the license director. Some will have forms and guidlines to instruct you how to get the licenses.

Be prepared to present graphica represnetations of the characters and be ready to place "MARVEL" or SPIDERMAN" as the name of the candy with your name very small or non-existant. They will have to approve the taste, shape, and wrapper of the candy. They may even tel you where you can or can't distribute. It gets expensive and controlling.

    I hope this helps!

    Good Luck!
