Defining Job Description

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
Hi,

I have a startup website business and I'm looking to hire someone to help get the site off the ground... The problem is I am probably looking for multiple people but at this stage cannot afford them.

What I want to know is what I should be looking for?

1. To start, I need someone to increase my website lead conversion ratio and CPA by fine tuning current website and recommending enhancements and improvements to better engage consumers.
2. I need the person to manage my AdWords account and ensure we decrease CPC and increase click conversion ratio.
3. I need to person to look at ways to generate more traffic to the website through better optimisation and online banners.

I expect that they would require some assistance... What should I be looking for? What type of person fits that job description?

Thanks

In my experience doing SEM/SEO, you will find that people tend to be specialized in one of the fields but typically not all of them.

Dont get me wrong most of the SEM professionals I know - tend to be very familiar with all the major areas like PPC management, Landing Pages, Onsite SEO, Conversion tuning, but they typically specialize in one major one.

It sounds to me that you need a PPC person to manage your AdWords. Make sure that you pick someone that has experience in AdWords and preferably is an Adwords Certified Professional - that is a good sign. That however does not mean that they are not great Adwords experts that do not have the certification, so if you know one by all means, hire them.

As far as traffic and conversions. For traffic, you will typically need someone that is good in link building and content generation. For conversions, you typically need a good web or ladning page copywriter than has knowledge of web copy and NLP.

Can you find someone with all the above skills? Maybe, but in my experience you tend to find some one that is better than others AT one thing.

    Hope this helps.
