Logo Using Licensed Fonts And Images

Hi..

I have a graphic designer friend that will be designing my logo using licensed fonts and images...will I have to pay royalties from clothing etc. to the company as well as would I have trouble trademarking my logo

    It depends on what the license agreement states. If you're unclear and want to get it in writing, email the owners of the images/fonts for permission. And if you want to rest well at night, talk to a (copyright) lawyer to ensure you understand your obligations.

    For the fonts part, if your designer has paid for the licence, you're fine as long as you don't get a copy of the font to use to further brand your material but just the logo converted to an image.

    As for the images, it scares me to hear your designer is going to use licensed stock. Your logo is your company's unique visual identity. It's going to be hard to be unique by using licensed stock images. I strongly suggest digging further with a creative process that will allow you to come up with a more original identity system that will help you stand out and make your mark.
