Topic: Branding

Starting Jewelry Line. New In Business.

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi,

I am jewelry designer, have product and would like to start with business and branding of the my shop, work.

Copy from other forum:
1. Need name. Not clear should I go as ShopElegante, as now ( my jewelry is elegant but it is rugged as well ), my name: Ana K. , or third one like Novica ( general name , similiar jewelry line.)

So jewelry has natural, rugged, organic finished. Most of my clients are 35-55 old people, educated and have active life style. Green, eco, yoga, spiritual oriented. Love outdoors, love unique pieces, will pay more for handcraft items.

Please take a look my future shop: https://shopelegante.bigcartel.com/
This is place where I sell now, more items : https://www.etsy.com/shop/Shopelegante

2. Need taglines for my hang tags. It will go with each bracelet.

This is idea, please add or change what you will think is the best :

This is an individually crafted
WORK OF ART.
Any surface imperfections, ruggedness and unsmooth parts
are intentional by designer and because of natural pieces of bracelets . That do not diminish the quality and deep uniqueness of this piece in any way.
It is almost same as you are. ( not sure about this, but I need to have this, bellow is descriptions, do not know how to put together ).

Wear you bracelet in health and joy.

ShopElegante by Ana K.

Made in Toronto, Canada

I hope you will get an idea what I had in mind for my clients. I want to represent the jewelry
as something natural, from earth in organic state with all imperfections as we, people, are.
Not sure for grammar since it's second language.
It will go on each side of hang tangs in case you think is too long for one.

3. Anything else you can suggest to start up with good web shop ? Should I post a project and what should I request?
As well can I trade ? Bracelets for projects? :)

4. Not sure how should I do branding and where to focus. I think you will get an idea of the consumers I am targeting and the products I am making.

As well, keeping in mind I can add more of the jewelry line in store one day ( maybe organic linens, handcraft, individual items of other designers )

Thanks,

Ana K.

The starting point should be identifying your goals. How big do you want the business to be? How much demand can you supply? How long can you continue to invest in your business before you begin to turn a profit? How will your customers find out about you? What do you estimate the average sale will be? How many pieces do you need to sell each week to break even?

These are all basic business planning questions and will impact your marketing plans. Starting a business is an exciting time, but you don't want to let your excitement get in the way of good planning. And the marketing questions you're asking will all depend on the answers to these questions. The better job of planning you do, the better chance you have of coming up with a winning formula for your new business.

Your website is fine. As others have previously noted, improve your grammar and spelling.

(Aside: Elegante is a trademarked name for gemstones, and may cause you a legal problem in the future.)

Since you're only selling bracelets (are you planning on branching out to other jewellery or specializing in bracelets?) - perhaps focus your name on bracelets. Other ideas: From Toronto With Love Jewellery, Toronto Bracelet Company, or Ana's Fashion Bracelets.

Before you ramp up more, spend time face-to-face with people (at jewellery shows, street fairs, etc.) to find out what THEY like about your work, what makes them buy it, and where they will wear it. That'll stop the guesswork, and give you lots of words/ideas for your marketing from the people who care - your customers.

We would suggest to optimize the site further. Current format makes it difficult to understand key offers, all items are same in terms of priority. When designing a professional website it is important to create a clear hierarchy of most important to least important items. Also develop corresponding online marketing strategy that will reflect your target audience behavior. Also think about usability of the website and landing page design strategy when you essentially converting each site page into a landing page. Hi Ana!

As a fellow Torontonian, I thought I'd add my comments:

You've already received some great feedback in this forum!

My key concern for you is the spelling and grammar on your website. It detracts from the beautiful pieces you have created. Spread the word - there are a ton of great writers in Toronto that can help with this!

I'd also love to see a story around each piece. If I'm buying jewellery on-line, it would be great to have an emotional connection before I purchase.

    Wishing you great success!
