Can you submit your site and your keywords in question so that we can check it out? If you dropped off that badly it could be because of changes in google's rules, becuase you were breaking google's rules to get on the front page, because someone that wants to rank for your keyword reported something you were doing against Google policy to Google (SEO consultants have confirmed for me that they frequently do this to oust competition!!!).

    when did the drop occur?

what changes have been made on-site?

Have you done a any link building recently?

Are you referring to google.com or co.uk? I assume .co.uk.

I have not had any google adsense clicks and my keyword handyman services. The keyword is now not bringing up my website, which was always on page 1.

I have done some slight changes to titles and meta-tags but not any extreme changes.

I did a small amount of link building which was recommended by seo company.

https://www.ourhandyman.co.uk is the website and yes it is for .co.uk

    WEBSITE: https://www.ourhandyman.co.uk
    KEYWORD: handyman services

    Thanks

How long ago did you make the changes to the title tags and when did you notice the drop in rankings? The title tag is probably the most important page element from Google's perspective. Small changes can cause radical effects. When did each occur?

And, i realize your site is a .co.uk but my question is if your first-page ranking for [handyman services] was on google UK or google.com (US). Based upon your vertical my assumption is UK.

excellira: The title tags and metatag were changed around beginning of Feb10. I just noticed last week that my keyword "handyman services" was not working when put in google search page. I always search for the keywork in the generic google search which could have been .com however i also selected uk a few times when searching an i still had my site on first page.

Is there anyway of checking what older versions of website i had so i can see what changes were made. I did so much work on the site and initially it did increase traffic and adsense clicks. However i now must have messed up badly and i dont have a clue what i did.

    any help would be appreciated

    Use this URL.

    https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1C1GGLS_enUS301US304&q=%22o...

Your site should be at the top of the SERP. Click the "Cached" link at the bottom of your listing. Then "view source" in your browser and capture the entire source content.

I notice that you changed the title and your most prominent keyword is now "Handyman services" where previously you had "handyman service". Google sees these as two distinct keyword phrases. From their perspective you've change what the page is about.

If I were advising a client I'd likely recommend that they put the title tag back the way it was, make certain that the page is still optimized for the original keyword and make a new page called "handyman services".

This at least gives you a chance at getting you position back.

I hope this helps, but please use at your own risk.

To clarify: I suggested grabbing the entire source code of the page but it was for the purpose of backing it up. You should extract the title though and replace it.

You can do the same on other pages of your site.

do a google search such as
site:ourhandyman.co.uk and you'll see an entire list of your indexed pages. You can add modifiers to find specific pages in this form:
    site:ourhandyman.co.uk keyword

I should have suggested that in my earlier post.

Also keep in mind that the cached version of the page may not be the last version but Google does provide the cache date at the top of the page when you click the cache link.

By the way, the site appears to be hosted on a US server. The .co.uk TLD is the strongest signal indicating regional rankings however the hosting may have a small impact. Ideally I'd prefer to have hosting in the region I was looking to rank well in.

I'm not recommending moving your hosting but if you decide to move, then move to a server in the UK.
