Instore Signage Coloring

Posted by Anonymous on 150 Points
I work for a woman's clothing store that has 200 stores nationwide. We are looking to replace/reprint all our instore price point signs. The controversy is in our branded store color. It's a very young looking pink color (pms 207). We have gotten so much negative feedback internally that our signs look too young and the berry color is too bright and SALE looking. I personally feel like most of the problem was that we just oversigned our store and any color would get to be too much if you have 50 signs staring in your face.

Half of us are divided and say to keep with the pms 207 color because that is our branded color. The other half says to go with a more mature color such as a dark plum or dark gray.

I keep trying to look at our competitors such as GAP, AE, Charlotte, Forever 21, Aero, etc. For the most part their storefronts are neutral colored and no body is going to connect them to a particular branded color. The problem with our stores is that the front of our store has a big pms 207 strip painted across it and the logo itself is in a berry color.

Any feedback on what we should do colorwise with our generic, everyday in store signage color?

If you think that the problem is the specific color, then split test colors at your various stores. Perhaps you need a lighter version for colors that are at eye-level, and your normal color for those overhead.
