Pack 7 And Organic Listings

Guys and Gals ,

I would like to start off by saying that I am very appreciative of all the help from the members who help me solve my SEO and SEM problems for www.aretedi.com special props to mgoodman.

Our Vehicle wrap site is on top of the google pack 7 for most of our categories ex. "Vehicle wraps Los Angeles","Vehicle Graphics Los Angeles" but it is not showing up in the organic listings for these categories. Our other pages show up though on the 2nd and 3rd pages . My question is are the 7 Pack and Organic Listings the same thing or are they running in parallel ? On one of our keywords "Digital Printing Los Angeles" we are top 1 on the pack 7 and also on the first page. I need your help again guys I am confused. :)

Oh BTW one thread from our forum was actually on the first page of "vehicle wrap Los Angeles" and our site was not . hmmm perplexing. Oh well CESt' La Vie

    You have some things going for you in terms of organic local search so I'm not surprised you're doing well there.

    It takes a LONG time to analyze a site properly so I have some initial thoughts:

    1. The contrast of the text at the bottom of the home page is very low. I would increase that.

    2. You have a conical element in the head section though I'd prefer to implement a 301 redirect and canonicalize on the hostname that has the most backlinks and pages indexed. I don't remember which has the most but it's easy for you to look into.

    3. You are going up against some seriously big competitors with millions of backlinks. I suggest that if you want to rank for "vehicle wrap Los Angeles" that you include that keyword phrase at the start of the title tag (assuming that this is your primary keyword phrase) and in your copy a few times.

    4. You need more backlinks. Do it naturally, at a steady rate, and rotate your anchor text but do include your keyword phrase as part of the rotation.

    It's just a start but I hope it helps.

    This is disproven continually though I do wholeheartedly agree that optimized, useful text would help this situation.

    The page is not optimized for the target keyword phrase you defined. Take a look at what keywords are driving traffic to your site. If after researching the search volume and competition of this and your other keyword phrases, you decide that this keyword phrase is more important, you will need to optimize the page for it.

    @ excellira : I spaced out and forgot to mention you . You are our SEO/SEM Guru! I highly value your advice . DO you remember a month ago you gave us stellar advice on SEO and our great pack 7 results are in part greatly influenced by your advice.

    - RE: footer text : I implemented this as a short term solution to keyword density as I am testing a Joomla CMS on my /localhost to address this issue. The contrast does appear to make it look like hidden text - will change that now.
    - RE: canonicalization : hopefully the CMS transition should address this issue even without the tag and i will at some point do a 301 re-direct to www.aretedi.com

    I took it for granted that with good pack 7 listings that it will actually trickle down to our key word "vehicle wraps" to be relevant to "vehicle wraps los angeles" . Anyways i have to rethink this strategy.

    @dvogel : although i concur with excellira you don't need to follow a strict 400 word rule when you're optimizing sites i thank you for your insight and actually we are in the process of transitioning to a Joomla CMS to address this particular issue (see Case study). As it is now I have to bug our graphics designer to add content and correct errors from stuff that I can't change on the html side. Like I said the footer was a short term solution IMO.



    CASE Study: There is this particular site that is our competiton > exoticcarwraps actually has few backlinks and it is basically a flash site but it ranks well i suppose because of the url strength and the age of the site but they are PR 0 so really the Google algorithm is very mysterious. Any thoughts on this guys?

    Hey, thanks for the kind words. Glad to help.

    PR doesn't translate to rankings as one would think. I see PR 0 sites beat other higher PR sites all the time. I view it as a way to judge the quality of your link building effort but it isn't useful as a performance metric. After all, which would you prefer: rankings or PR? ;-)

    I'll take the rankings because they typically translate to traffic.
