So I recently read an article in adage about how McDonald's will be rolling out smoothies later this year. This has really got me thinking, how can McDonald's sell everything (smoothies, coffee, salads, burgers, etc.) and still remain a strong brand.
I guess the logical answer is that McDonald's stands for "the world's favorite place to eat" and can therefore offer pretty much any food product under the sun. But this same strategy has been harmful to so many other chains including Boston Market.
Perhaps the reason I am having such a difficult time wrapping my mind around this is that I am a very strong believer in focus.
Please enlighten me!
