Need Ideas To Market Online It Classes

Posted by KathyAd on 250 Points
My company offers online classes, particularly targeted to IT people. Ie. they can take classes or get certifications. The classes are career-oriented. They can be either technical classes or soft skills classes.

Does anyone have ideas on how to market such classes? Obviously online marketing, as opposed to print, would be our preferred method.

Thanks for the input!

Do the classes have CEC's? AEC Daily does CEu's for construction. I googled "computers CEC' and got too many hits to post.

Carol, the classes offer CDUs, PDUs, and CEUs. I'm not sure what you mean by "AEC Daily does CEUs for construciton"?

I was comparing sites. This is their link. And in this field, this is the go to site. I googled search words in your industry and found a lot of similars in your field.

What about posting your online classes on the events calendars of professional associations or societies who audience would benefit from your classes. I'm sure there's a number of IT professional organizations out there whose members would also be your target audience, why not see if you can post your online classes as events on their event calendars - some allow you to post for free. Or another suggestion would be if they do not allow you to post them for free maybe you can discuss with them some partnership going forward.
There's a number of small associations who want to offer their professionals online courses but cannot afford - maybe offer some cross promotion where they will help you market to their membership base and you offer a discount for the course to their members. Or you can simple cross market each other - say you promote or showcase them as a "partner" or affiliate and they do the same for you.

Have you also tried LinkedIn - maybe starting a group for IT professionals or joining other groups on LinkedIn and promoting your classes there?

Online classes...to what group of IT people? Specializing in what technology?

How are your classes better than the competition's? English-only speakers? Do the classes offer any specific follow-up (e.g,. support for taking certification tests)?

Please advise you target segments including geographic locations, approximate investment required by a target prospect, and the duration of the courses.

Outline why someone should buy from you rather than from a competitor.

Who are your top three competitors?

What does someone get when they graduate from your courses?
