Is It Legal To Use The Eiffel Tower In A Logo?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
My friend and I are starting a business together shortly and we are currently trying to create a business logo. I have sketched out something that would work perfectly but my partner is concerned about using the Eiffel Tower. He believes there may be certain rules or limitations to how you can use pictures of famous landmarks. Can anyone please tell me what the rules and regulations are relating to this?

Thank you for your quick response. I shall investigate the term "in the public domain" as you have suggested. I will certainly give the www.LogoDesignGuru.com site a look as my design was only a draft sketch.

Thank you again, you have been very helpful.

    Dear trinketangie,

Colleague PhilGrisolia4Results is correct - I've even seen depictions of the Eiffel Tower in various forms including business cards. Do check "public domain" -related materials just in case, but I doubt that there's any legalese attached to the image of the Eiffel Tower or any other deemed "public monument."

Were you to have used the flag of the U.S. or any foreign country or its currency it would have been another matter altogether, as these are protected by a myriad of legal rules.
