How To Brand A Website For A Business Unit

I work for a clinical research organization (the organization conducts clinical trials and plays an important part in the discovery of new medicines) The organization has 3 business units a) a clinical trial unit that conducts the clinical trials ie does the testing of new innovative medicines in humans b) clinical trials consulting ie advises biotech and pharma companies on how to navigate the regulatory and scientific pathways to bringing new medicines to the market c) clinical research education. ie provides courses on clinical research for professionals (doctors, nurses etc).

In addition to our corporate website, we want to build a website specifically for the clinical trial unit that conducts clinical trials. The website is to act as an education site for volunteers and patients who are interested in participating in clinical trials. The site will have information about the benefits and risks of clinical trials, what is involved in participating in a clinical trial and what trials are currently recruiting for clinical trials.

For purposes of discussion, assume that the corporate brand name of my organisation is XXX, that the consulting arm of the business is called XXXconsulting and the education arm of the business is called XXXeducation. The clinical trial unit, however, is a "Centre for Clinical Trials".

In the past to recruit for patients and volunteers we have advertised the Centre and patients and volunteers who are partaking in clinical trials have not realised that the clinical trial unit is apart of a bigger organization.

What is the best way to build the new website using the corporate brand and subbrand of the "Centre" for clinical trials?

    Maybe I just don't understand: WHY is the corporate name important for this purpose? Why do you want your target audiences to know that the clinical trial unit is a part of the bigger organization?

    Is it an option to continue to use the Centre as the main brand, with a sub-head that says "Part of the XXX Family" or "A Unit of XXX?"
