Is Product Brand More Important Than Company Name

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I work for a small company with a very strong brand. Our customers recognise that brand and request product according to it - they also visit us at shows since they see the product brand name. However, we are now considering re-vamping marketing material and are looking to make the company name, rather than the brand name, more predominant. I am not sure that is the best solution but I am having problems 'arguing' the point. The counter position is that they believe the branding is too strong and it looks as if the company is only a distributor. To that extent, I am looking for input from other companies who promote the product branding over and above the company name and, hopefully, some independant material that states clearly that a customer-recognised brand is gold-dust and should be represented at every level..
