I've got a question about the search engine rankings of our company websites. Currently we have a "company" site (www.gaelquality.com) in which all of our recent news, successes, sectors and the company blog lives.
However, we also have a "product" site (www.q-pulse.com) which is intended to provide prospects with an in-depth level of information about the product, along with sector specific applications.
Having mainly concentrated on on-page SEO and not off page, a problem has arised where the company site is ranking much higher in Google with several keywords being page 1, but the product site is suffering greatly and not ranking anywhere in the top 50 results for our targeted keywords.
My question is then, what recommendations would you give in order to help our product site rank higher up for our targeted keywords?
My ideas as to the root cause of the problem boil down to:
1. Site structure/linkage & content - we have many internal links between both sites, however the freshest content is only posted to the company website (as mentioned, this inlcudes blogs, success stories etc).
2. Backlinks - there is a bit of disparity in terms of the amount of backlinks pointing to each site - the company site has over 400, but the product site has less than 100 (according to Webmaster tools).
Of course, any extra advice as to how I can effectively build backlinks to help rank better is much appreciated :) Also don't hesitate to ask me for any extra information if you need it.
