Campaign For Dry Cleaner/coin Operated Laundry

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Hello and thanks
I'm helping a friend with his social media campaign for his coin operated laundry and dry cleaning business. I'm fairly experienced with social media and work with several different companies on their strategies; developing daily interactive posts, etc. However, I'm stuck on the laundry/dry cleaner. I'm trying to keep the posts interactive, mostly just to keep some TOMA for the company, but I'm not sure anyone wants to read laundry tips daily, etc. We have posted a few things about preparing winter clothing for summer storage but being creative in this genre is a struggle for me. Any thoughts or ideas on how to proceed?

How about videos - how to clean different materials, how to take something old-looking and make it new, cleaning the carpet, folding tips, storage tips, etc.?

How about some engaging stories about neat things people in the neighborhood have done? Maybe just reminding your target audience that the business is a supportive community citizen would be enough. And if you can include stories about regular customers, that's a plus ... because it lets the "hero" of your stories become a kind of endorser of the business.

And everyone has a story. If you start asking you'll probably find that it's not too difficult to get some great stories.

I would be willing to bet that very few people are interested on reading daily posts about "laundry tips" or any other subject (content) about laundry. Not all businesses naturally lend themselves to social media campaigns. I suggest keeping the laundry mat well maintained, clean, cheerful and as user friendly as practical. Satisfied customers and word-of-mouth will help you achieve your TOMA goals.

You can incorporate special promotions and discounts for "frequent flyers" or "summer storage plans" by using signage, posters, flyers and the spoken word. It's a simple business, keep it simple and save time and energy for something more profitable. If the social media types want to exchange FB and Twitter info so be it. They also might want to play a game of cards.

A laundromat is usually a pretty busy place. There are the youngsters who bustle in to wash their stuff the mums with duvets and anyone who needs something special put through the dry cleaning.

If my local laundromat is anything to go by there is a communal seating area. There is always something being talked about - so get some of that online. One other thing is that people are always forgetting things you could paste a photo of the suit and the tag that was left in the dry cleaners' ... or the saggy knickers? ;-)

A laundry is very localized and a fun social media campaign should work a treat.
