Branding A Shipping Agency

Hi,
I am very enthusiastic on finding out how shipping agencies brand themselves since I'm doing a detail study of Sri Lankan shipping agencies.
Can you tell me how can a shipping agency start branding themselves?
What are the possible steps they can follow?

    Look at who these shipping companies serve in Sri Lanka. After all, their branding must appeal to their customers - or they wouldn't have a business, would they? Do they brand locally, or internationally - and if internationally, where and why? What commodities do they ship? Where do these companies ship to? Do they do the Singapore/Shanghai - Rotterdam route without even seeing Colombo once in ten years???

    Answering these questions will give you insights into how these companies deal with branding.

    Thank you for your responses. I have statred studying the background of shipping industry and now particularly looking at one shipping agency. By studying their performance I feel that they are having the capacity to serve more shipping lines. But since it is a B2B service, can this company follow the same branding process we follow for other products as well or is it different?
