Tactical Ideas To Encourage Downloads Of An App

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
A highly rated urban radio station based in Africa developed a version one for their app that allows amongst other functionalities allows listeners to listen to the radio station anywhere in the world. The uptake of the first app was very successful with more than 100,000 downloads of the app.

The station is now looking to develop a version two which will include some new added functionality such as "i-reporting'.

The problem is that whilst traditionally in apple and android stores, previous users will receive an update prompt and the old update will simply be updated the nokia store which the stations app is located doesn't do upgrades and this means that once the new version is out, previous users will have to download the new app all over again.

The question is what kind of tactical ideas can be used to encourage downloads of this new app bearing in mind that we would really like the old users to also download this new app as well as new users.

IF anyone would like any questions answered please feel free to ask and i can give more answers but i reckon i have captured most of the important information on here

Apparently, there is a way to do app updates on the Nokia Store: https://admin.support.publish.nokia.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Preparin...

As for how to encourage people to download it - commercials on the radio station (if you have a separate audio stream for app listening, insert the commercial just there).

What motivated people to download the first app? Knowing which emotions this involved (trust, ease, etc) would help you to pull another strategy into shape.

If you wish to share that here, I for one could tease out a different approach to the same ol' problem.

Hi there - how has the app been improved, and why? Just telling this to your existing customers should solve much of the problem. Without further details there's not much we can do save suggest you get in touch with them somehow.
