Handmade Food - Good Marketing Examples

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
I am looking for good marketing examples of handmade food products: branding, packaging, websites, FB pages, case studies, etc. for my marketing lecture next month.

Could you send me links to some well-managed handmade foods?

Thank you,

SIldiko

Have you looked at Duchy Originals - whilst not entirely hand made, they are exclusive in the way hand made stuff tends to be. They're also popular with the kind of people you're looking to speak to.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duchy_Originals_from_Waitrose

    Not very inspiring ... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Duchy-Originals/217086965020662
    even less inspiring ... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Duchy-Originals-from-Waitrose/12074938797595...

I do know of several local producers of food - chocolatiers, bakers amongst others. There are a surprising number of small producers around here. However, they are European and their marketing tends to be along the lines of "well, they'll come, won't they?" Which sort of forgets marketing altogether - but that's why I advertise my services in South Africa and Australia ...

... and it's the best ruddy chocolate on the planet - and there's barely a link let alone a decent website!!!

These guys are in Bilthoven (20kms from here) yet their website ... you don't even need to translate it. https://www.edelgebak.nl/ You see, the real problem isn't in getting people to go into these shops, it's getting them out of there again.

[Note to Gary - believe me, Googling is one of the most frustrating occupations on the planet. Writing good articles for Google is an art that has yet to be discovered by most people out there.]

This post has nothing to do with WRITING good articles for Google.

It is to do with a lack of willingness to type search terms INTO Google.

handmade food products = 41,500,000 pages of results on Google.
handmade food branding = 1,710,000 pages of results on Google.
handmade food packaging = 2,190,000 pages of results on Google.
handmade food websites = 40,100,000 results pages of results on Google.
handmade food Facebook pages = 26,000,000 pages of results on Google.
handmade food case studies = 10,200,000 results pages of results on Google.

    Thankyou for that, Gary.

I well understand your point, and have used this to demonstrate poorly formed questions. However the issue here is the very need to meet the questions asked by searchers. Because all Google can do is mirror the question, not answer it. That means the person answering the question (that is to say, writing the post for Google to index) must first ... ask it for their searchers! This is no small problem.

As mentioned, since most people answer questions (as here) this means that the person Googling must provide an answer in order to receive a response ... something of a non-sequiteur?

Are you looking for homemade brands that made it big: eg Green and Blacks, Snapple, Innocent Drinks, Patak's sauces, Ben and Jerry's, Reggae Sauce, New Covent Garden Soup?

Or are you looking for brands from more local and small-scale producers - these are UK based: eg marshfield-icecream.co.uk, Borough Market in London (a foodies delight), The Real Pie Company, West Cornwall Pasty co (among other pie and pasty companies) - most have scaled up production by now so won't be purely homemade. And obviously there are hundreds of local speciality cheese, wine, beer, bread, sausage, olives, chutneys, jams etc producers and local associations supporting them eg: https://www.lcfpa.co.uk/ or https://www.swansea.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=41443

Just google my original question: "good marketing examples of handmade food products"
And you will see, Google is useless in this case. https://goo.gl/SBrPHR

The same problem with my second question: "well-managed handmade foods"
    No result...

If you're going to post on an English language marketing forum, I suggest you SEARCH on the English version of Google, not the Hungarian version.

You might also want to adjust your search criteria—the term "marketing handmade foods" returns rather different results—I also suggest that it is not anyone's job here to use Google on your behalf.
