Radio Show Naming

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I work for a radio station and we are working to add a new show to our line up. It is going to be a show playing a mix of everything we have. In addition they do local and national music news stories.
Where I am struggling, is coming up with a name. Our target market for the station is primarily males between the ages of 15-25. So the show name needs to be edgy and catchy. Can any of you guys help me out?

My thoughts are for the age range you're targeting, twitter is an excellent way of determining what THEY like. Coz, like I's 50 and female - and whilst I can come up with great ideas and snappy taglines, they might (or might not) be what your audience is looking for.

Tweet them, ask 'em what they like and ask them to retweet the one they like best (or something like that). That way you'll know who it is that likes the name best. That way you get the best from us, and they tell you the one they really like.

So what about that creativity you cry!

    The Freeze
    On the beach
    Palm tree hour
    Blue Horizons
    Icebergs after dark

    I'm in a rut ...

    Big Barn
    The Door To Your Life
    Wide Open Spaces

So - do you like any of these, which direction do you like best (given that you're male, and 15-25?) and me and Saul can come up with at least a dozen more. If he doesn't, I will. Okay?

    Guaranteed.

We have to keep it edgy, we have a big base in the Rock and Roll and Metal genres, but we are working to add different genres all of the time. So we have to stay edgy while still being genre neutral

Were any of the suggestions edgy? Or did you think them flat? Was there anything you'd like developed - and given that you've seen the breadth that we can encompass, is there anything you can respond with that's in the direction of your edginess? I'm trying to establish what you want here. Once that theme's established, it'll be a question of stopping us. OK?

The Twitter suggestion panned out pretty well for us. We settled on The Music Lab. I appreciate your assistance.

Great to hear that it all went well. Good luck and hit 'em hard with that music!
