Marketing Of Advertising Agencies

Posted by v.arjunnagarjun on 125 Points
My friend started an advertising agency about a year ago. He does not have any previous experience with any other advertising agency. As of now he gets clients basically through sub contracting from another agency or friends/ family. He has tried approaching companies directly and cold calling them but they haven't worked. What strategies should he follow to get new clients and improve his brand image?

He should start advertising his clients' successes (especially if there were any awards won) to the community he wants to target.

Marketing agencies generally get their business through relationships. Companies want to hire ones they know are effective, so generally talk with other people they know to see who has used what agency and how the results were. You need to find a way to leverage the current clients to build more clients. Testimonials are a start in that direction, and make sure those are used in as many places as possible.

Perhaps your friend could work some sort of referral bonus in to these current clients? If someone they recommend the agency to becomes a client, the referrer gets something.
