The Challenge:
Our company has been using multiple channels (including offline and online auction platforms) to invite bids for unusable inventory items earmarked for disposal through secondary sales.
However there have been instances where very limited numbers of parties have shown interest in procuring the unusable materials.
This is particularly applicable for e-Waste and hazardous product categories like Transmission equipment, Antenna, Battery Banks etc. The main challenges are:
1. Limited availability of authorized E-Waste agencies (certified by State or Central Pollution Control Board)
2. Limited number of agencies having pan-India geographical presence and capability of lifting the proposed items from multiple locations as per time lines
3. Need to ensure compliance e- Waste and Hazardous material disposal norms
Constraints:
a. Identification of highest bidder and physical movement of material from our company warehouse needs to be completed within 60 days of approval for disposal.
b. Company doesn’t have in-house On-line auction portal.
c. Capital intensive ideas may not be suitable for implementation
Following processes are already in place:
1. Enquiring the buy-back option with the supplier
2. Checking with other service providers for liquidation
3. Checking usage in-house by modification/alteration
Can you suggest any other Ideas around efficient means to identify and reach out to interested bidders preferably in PAN - India locations
