Digital Marketing Franchising Opportunity For Uk

Posted by edmundjayasuriya on 500 Points
Although digital marketing is fast becoming the norm and have reached a tipping point in the UK there seems to be little high quality affordable offer for ambitious fast growing small and medium sized companies to capitalise on this revolution. They could pay high fees for a mainstream digital agency or hire an independent consultant who may offer great personal service but may have only limited access to proven high quality technology and the latest cutting edge marketing thinking for the sector.

I have contacted the British Franchise Association and there advised that there are only 2 franchisors offering a solution in this space and they seem to be quite limited in scope and level of service.

My question is does anybody know of a really excellent franchise concept/product that could provide a highly effective and distinctive digital marketing solutions for fast growing small and medium sized enterprises?

Such a product could offer great benefits at low cost so a really strong proposition for companies in this sector who are ambitious and going places but hampered by limited budget as these companies are at the early stages of growth.

The concept would need to be proven in western markets/USA and have the potential to be effective in the UK.

I am setting up a Marketing Consultancy focused on solution for high growth businesses and would like to add such a service to my offer. I would consider potential collaboration to introduce such a product to the UK for the right company/product.

I have 25 years senior marketing experience across both public, private and not for profit sectors. I have a MBA, Diploma in Direct Marketing and currently studying towards a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing in the UK.

Thank you for taking the time to read this question and I look forward to your reply.

Regards

Franchising may not be the best way to capitalize on the opportunity you have identified. "Digital Marketing" is a very broad category -- includes multiple platforms, covers a broad range of industries/sectors, B2B/B2C/not-for-profit and often ends up being a very hands-on/high-touch business (like consulting).

Moreover, small and medium-size businesses are often reluctant to invest enough to make a campaign return a positive ROI, especially if they are low-margin businesses to begin with.

And keeping up with the many changes and wrinkles in platforms like Google Adwords, Google Display Network, Re-Marketing, and Facebook advertising (to name just a few) is a time-consuming and never-ending process. There are agencies (in UK) that will handle the back-office stuff for you, but then they take a chunk of the fee, so you never quite get critical mass to realize the economy of scale for yourself.

I'm happy to discuss this at greater length with you, but you can probably tell I'm not very optimistic about the franchise approach to making this work in the UK.

Yes, small companies need professional marketing. But that doesn't mean they will pay for it.

In my opinion, the reason many small companies remain small and do not grow is their reluctance to invest sufficient resources over time in marketing.
