Is your question, "Is this still a good strategy?"

    What's the question?

Hi, everyone. As you can see, our forum newcomer hasn't actually asked a question. Let's use this as an opportunity anyway!

What do YOU think? Does the practice of link exchanging have any impact on search results today?
  • Posted by mgoodman on Accepted
Not nearly what it used to have. In the early days of search links were a big thing and could significantly affect your page rank for natural search results.

Now Google has really stressed paid search (i.e., Adwords) and made natural search results a secondary, or even tertiary, issue. Of course this isn't surprising, as the bulk of Google's revenue and profit comes from Adwords. They don't make anything on natural search.

This isn't to say that there is no value in backlinks or SEO. It's just that time/effort/money invested in SEO is not likely to generate as great an ROI as would the same time/effort/money invested in paid advertising.

And Google is becoming really good at finding bogus backlinks and punishing those who rely on what they consider to be gaming the system.

Having backlinks is as only good as the quality of the pagerank where the link resides. Low-quality backlinks are not valuable.

Where are these backlinks coming from?
  • Posted by firemarketing.bg on Author
The links are coming from very good Blogs. Decent metrics DA, PA > 20. Each blog has a persona and many social and web 2.0 properties. And they are on different IP addresses.
