Can Your Employer Change You Title?

Posted by ashley.rodriguez on 25 Points
I am currently working as a coordinator for my employer but I was informed that my title may change to specialist because I do not supervise anyone. Can they do this legally?

First I assume you are in the US? If another country, laws may vary.

Then, second caveat - we here are mostly marketers, not lawyers. If really a concern, contact a lawyer.

Unless you have a contract that calls for a certain title, they can change the title. Often there is some room for adjustment, so if you don't like the new title, talk to your supervisor.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.

I would think your employer can change your title unless you have an employment contract that specifies your title explicitly.

Don't worry so much about the title. Focus on delivering, or over-delivering, on your assignments and delivering high value to your employer.

Probably. But why worry about it?
