How To Pitch Your Product To A Distributor?

Posted by anreagin on 25 Points
I have been approached to create a "marketing plan" for a potential distributor that states to

"Include a vendor marketing plan inclusive of price off, special advertising, sales and marketing aids, education, and off-shelf activity." The client believes that this is different than a typical marketing plan.

I am new to the product distribution side of marketing and would appreciate any and all help.

Is there a template or an example that I could look at? This is for a professional salon product that is used by stylists and colorists alike.

Thank you in advance!

Suggestion: Why not interview a dozen stylists and colorists to see what kinds of promotions have been most successful (and unsuccessful) for them? You will learn more useful perspective from those interviews than you would from an example or template, even if you could find the latter.

As many times as we've done projects like this one, somehow we've never found templates useful. Better to treat each project like a one-off.

Thank you! That's a great idea.

    Mgoodman,

I do not really have any stylists to interview or survey because a lot of them have not invented a product, much less had a distribution deal.

I'm not exactly sure how to get in touch with others that have.
