Insta, Fb, And Pinterest For Floor Plan Ecommerce

Posted by caitlyn on 125 Points
I'm doing marketing for an online retailer of high-end house plans. They currently have 4 different plans to choose from. The majority of the site traffic comes from Pinterest and we've had some great success with getting traction there. Instagram and Facebook are lagging a lot though. We have a library of high-quality photos and we use $30 per post to promote them and we're not getting a lot of response. Any help, critique or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

You may want to try testing alternate copy in a series of A/B tests for each of the social media vehicles. The test in Pinterest will let you know if Pinterest itself is simply a more appropriate vehicle, or if the copy you are using there currently is just a great match for the audience that finds you there.

I'd approach the assignment as an objective scientist trying to figure out why performance is so different across media. Very often even experienced marketers can't predict effectiveness of different copy and/or different media vehicles a priori. That's why we have A/B tests.

Instagram <> you end with a video, why not 'go-pro' the house itself. Your readers/viewers are interested in the product, perhaps not the architect.

FB <> place the 'walk thru's' into Instagram. Much better

P <> as all pins, busy. Which one gets most clicks and follow that thread as to narrow readers/viewers focus to quicken the decision process

No one has patience anymore...get to what your potential customers are seeking...NOW!

Which of your social media gets the most clicks, no' not clicks...but which one provides the most qualified leads

Facebook is lagging because you are not posting often enough, and because all you're doing is talking about yourself.

There's a lot of time between November 1, 2016 and May 26, 2017. Why the gap? That point alone is a huge red flag that whoever is managing your social media is either not interested in connecting with people, or that this person isn't quite connected enough to understand that social media is about being social: it is the cocktail party of the marketing world in which you need to be interested in other people, and in which you need to be interesting to other people. To pull this off, 80 percent of your posts need to be about other things BESIDES the plan business and how shiny your images are.

Added to this the majority of images are nice looking, but they're clean, empty, and soulless. There are no people in your images, ands the images themselves all look like CAD renderings, which does not make me feel all warm and fuzzy. Stop talking about yourself and start showing REAL people LIVING in your houses and making those spaces into HOMES.

And for the love of God, STOP posting the same stuff on Facebook that you post on Instagram. Another thing on Instagram, you are following more people than are, in turn, following you: you need to REVERSE those numbers.
