Why Is Marketingprofs So Popular?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am a MSc Student and have been asked to conduct some research into the CIM BranchLine and I was asked to refer to this site by one of my interviewees. He would like to see articles similar to those published at MarketingProfs. But why? Why is this site so popular amongst Marketers and why is it perceived as one of the best Marketing Newsletters?

I would like to thank you in advance for any help in answering this question.

    Hi Ravi,

Just a quick top 10, not by order of importance.

    1) It is well moderated by the management, they know when to step in and when to leave it alone
    2) In large part, this is because it is very much self-governed by the top experts
    3) Flaming is almost non-existent as there is a zero-tolerance for it
    4) Some of the sharpest marketing minds in the world contribute
    5) It is global
    6) The quality of the knowledge you receive for the cost is unmatched anywhere. The responses to a well-written question in which the asker actively engages over the life of the question in many cases would have a value of thousands of dollars if one was to contract out to these same experts and have to pay for this information
    7) Even the experts learn something everyday, keeping us highly engaged
    8) It is fun
    9) It is well-designed and formatted
    10) Improvments are continuous and are based off a balance of needs of all the stakeholders

    I hope that helps!

    Hi, Ravi -

Just to clarify, are you asking about this bulletin board, or the site in general (along with its free and premium articles)?

Tim's covered the bulletin board very well (as well he should, being of its most prolific and helpful contributors), and I think a lot of what he said goes for the site in general, too.

This is a site *by* marketing professionals *for* marketing professionals. The content is written from a real-world perspective, and there is always something that can be implement right away in our daily lives.

However, don't think that this success happened overnight. If you look at the careers and resumes of the people behind this site, you'll see that MarketingProfs is the culmination of years of industry experience. So, when MarketingProfs was launched, it already had a somewhat built-in fan base of people who knew the principals and were familiar with their work. And my how it's grown since then...

    Hope this helps.

Ravi, it sounds like your assignment is not really about the Know-How Exchange forum here on the MarketingProfs site. Correct?

If it's about MarketingProfs in general, then some reasons for its popularity are...

...the quality of the articles MP publishes. They are about timely topics, they are written by smart and experienced people, they contain content you can put into practice, they are immensely readable, and they are delivered in manageable bite-sized servings every week. Always good content, and seldom overly theoretical.

...the design and structure of the site. It's got polish, it's well organized, and it's got useful features like Search and article bookmarking.

...the savvy and commitment of the management team. Their involvement is apparent, and you "feel" their presence in everything they produce. I can hear real people talking when Ann, Roy, Allen or Val are communicating with subscribers. They work endlessly to make MP a great product and a successful business.

This is one homework assignment that I'm happy to help with. ;]

Ravi, I am relocating your question to the About Our Forum category. This might give it a bit more visibility for a couple of days, and it seems appropriate for your topic.

However, please CLOSE this question when you have received sufficient input. We have too many students who post their homework here, then disappear!

    Ravi,

WE'VE GOT A GOOD THING GOING ON AT KHE...
I believe it is the sincerity, integrity, concern and the varied experience that is given here at Marketingprofs KHE that makes it so appealing. People from all walks of life (from the CEO to the beginner of a newly designed start-up company) can come here to our site, feel welcomed and get real factoids of knowledge.

    GAIN HUGE PROJECT KNOWLEDGE
The responses a person like you can receive from one post is unbelieveably broad. The range of answers will also vary and this makes it even more special and sometimes unbelieveable.

    QUENCH YOUR THIRST
You can quench your thirst at the fountain of KHE based on the type of container you bring to draw from our well of knowledge. Put in your big dipper and receive from a broad range of answers that reflect the more analytical type of mindset to the even more philosophical mindset. And just imagine we have not even began to get excited about the diverse levels of experiences some of my KHE brothers and sisters bring to the table from across the many beautiful oceans of our amazing world.

WE DO HAVE SOMETHING SPECIAL here at KHE. I think we have something far more richer than anything you can get any where in the world. WE are an invaluable resource that I believe is worth far more than what some people could ever afford to pay for. We truly have "Acres of Diamonds", and "Rubies worth of Wisdom" buried here.

    OUR ONLY UNINVESTED RESOURCE...
One resource we have not tapped into yet is gathering the wealth of knowledge, categorizing it in a more effective way, and bundling it to take to market where people can buy. This will secure our prized investment (KNOWLEDGE & WISDOM) while supporting our organization and even securing the financial futures of those who invest their experience for a life time. I pray this is forthing coming because the power and respect people have for "Real HIDDEN Treasures" always carries a very valuable $ sign. :-)

Ask the right question and you may discover gold. If you become wealthy from what we shared please feel free to tell others and if you would like to give forward please don't feel restricted. We won't limit how you feel moved to say thanks. Thanks for such a wonderful question. Is there anything else I can do for you?

Your Servant, Deremiah, *CPE (Customer Passion Evangelist)
