Content Creation Rates As An Influencer

Posted by merrwatson on 250 Points
Hello! A tourism company reached out asking what my rates are if I were to provide the following deliverables:

* A post on Instagram per day during the trip (approx. 5-7 days)
* An Instagram Story per day during the trip
* A blog or vlog
* 20-25 extra images to be shared with the tourism organization
* Screenshots of performance by the end of the trip (for reporting purposes)

I've got a following of 67K on Instagram with an engagement rate of 10% and specialize in aerial photography and travel as a niche.

I am not sure what to charge for the above content creation. Should I charge an hourly rate or provide a set package rate for everything above? I don't want to charge overly high and scare them off as this is also my first time. Any tips or advice on a rough estimate would be great appreciated!

    Don't give an hourly rate.
The value of your content is what value they place on your work.
Start by figuring out how much time/money it'll cost you to produce the work they want. Then place an hourly value on your time. That's your bottom line. If you can research the tourism company's financials, that'll give you a clue about their ability to pay. Or, if they've hired others recently, reach out to them to get a clue.

Are they also giving you the trip for free? Does that trip have value for you (is it a vacation, or do you look at it as work)?

Hey Peter, the trip is free. It's a tourism board and they will be flying me over to create content for them so I'm looking at it as work. Perhaps some sort of value too as I can create content to use myself however my main focus is providing these requested deliverables. I'm just having a hard time coming up with a ballpark figure as I've never done this before.

Set rate. Do NOT charge by the hour.

Fees for monthly stuff like this are all over the map. I'd suggest a rate of between $500 and $750 USD for the week (as they're paying for your travel), on the condition that you can do your own stuff and that they offer you first refusal for future trips.

In your stories for them, outline how you'll focus on narratives and insights that their clients may find valuable (while relying less on hashtags).

This way you show them you have their best interests at heart, which helps grease the skids for additional work at similar rates.

If you go higher, rate-wise, you risk frightening them off, while at the suggested, you offer evidence that you understand the economics of the budding relationship while not being afraid to state a reasonable price.

    Good luck.
