Executives say the biggest benefits of improving company culture are increased productivity and improved retention, according to recent research from Arbinger and Ascend2.

The report was based on data from a survey conducted in March 2023 among 302 strategic decision-makers who work for organizations in the United States with 500 or more employees.

Some 90% of respondents say the importance of company culture is increasing in today’s market, yet more than a quarter (26%) say they struggle to get buy-in from the rest of their leadership team.

Some 46% of executives say increased productivity is one of the greatest benefits of improving the culture of an organization and 40% say improved retention is one of the biggest benefits.

Executives who say their company has a very successful culture are more likely to report that their organization prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), leadership development, and performance management. They are also more likely to say that their organization focuses on employee mindset, not just behavior.
