SMB decision-makers say their biggest current marketing challenge is not knowing what's working, according to recent research from Constant Contact.
The report was based on data from a survey conducted in June 2025 among 2,500 small business decision-makers in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Some 23% of respondents say not knowing what's working is their top marketing frustration right now. Other top frustrations include that marketing is too expensive to do well (21% say so), and that it takes too much time to manage (19%).
Asked about their use of AI for marketing, SMB decision-makers say they're using the technology most for writing emails, subject lines, or social media posts (31% say so).
Respondents say their top concerns about AI are data privacy (35% cite it as a concern) and trust in accuracy/quality (31%).
