Need Fun Business Name

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi everyone,

My name is Kristine and I am in the process of starting a prenatal 3D/4D ultrasound business. It is an elective ultrasound that is provided as a positive bonding experience for the mother, father and family members with the unborn baby.

I really would like a fun name and is descriptive enough that dosen't leaving you guessing what kind of business it is. I had come up with "PEEK OF YOU" Ultrasound or Imaging but it was already taken. There are some really corny names out there like "Womb with a View", etc. As I said, I would like for it to be fun. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

    Dear Kristine

Out of interest, what is 4D ultrasound. 3D is pretty advanced, but seeing things through hyperspace brings in an entirely new concept. Hiccup and you’ll turn the baby inside-out! Cosmology and advanced maths acknowledges higher dimensions, but not such that we have the honour of actually being able to see them.

Did you mean moving pictures with the fourth D being Time?

    Best wishes

    Hi Kristine,

Hope you're having a great day but more importantly a WONDERFUL LIFE!

PLAN THE RIGHT NAME AND YOU'LL CREATE THE RIGHT FUTURE FOR YOUR BUSINESS...

Planning on starting a new business?...that's Great! But take the time and invest wisely in a name that will change the future of your business because you were willing to sacrifice and make smart choices. It's very easy to make dumb ones...I KNOW I've made a lot of them. Fortunately I've become wildly successful. Not because of the mistakes but because of what I've been able to learn from making them. Now you don't need to make all the ones I've made so please let me help you. Many people make mistakes in the names they let others give them. Why? Because then they don't have to take full responsibility for failing when it's the name that has a great deal to do with whether the business becomes a huge success or it ends up just becoming a HUGE FLOP!!

THE FIRST BIGGEST ERROR mOST pEOPLE MAKE...BUT DON'T YOU DO THIS...
They take the matter lightly. And let me be the first to say that I am probably one of the most "Playful and Humorous" of all the experts here so being light has it's advantages...(click my name profile. Read some of the questions I've asked and you'll see). My degrees in ART & Accounting make me a cross between Leonardo da Vinci & Michelangelo. And while my prolific ability could allow me to create for you nearly 10-20 variations on a name I respect that the process is more than just "Name Generation". So making the right choice of a good quality name that will bring you much goodwill is not a light matter. ***So don't you take it lightly either*** and make the mistakes most people do.

So here's some research I've just pulled together for you to help you avoid the aweful blunders people make in name choosing. I reference other experts on our forum as I have learned so much about the process through them. It's full of some questions that will help you think more clearly about the process so that you can have a successful name that will make a difference first to your customers and then to your company. The only real reason why anyone goes into business anyway is to ---Take Great Care of a Customer---. If you take care of a customer your customer will take care of you :- )

Any additional information you offer us as we're helping you with your magnificent company name only brings you better results. The more you offer the better the results. The less you offer the poorer the results. If you offer less you're probably going to get less even though we want to give you So Much MORE...It's like trying to build a Great Big house on a little bitty small teeny weenie foundation. If you give us enough foundation will build you a Great Big House to put your name in :-)

Most people fail to do the above even though we highly recommend it because it's so much easier to let others do the work and you can always blame your failures on them RIGHT! But the right information really does make a huge difference for you and that's what you really want in the end right?...

Even in basic name creation or "idea generation" establishing a starting point often requires establishing purpose. Taking the steps using the following information below will start, direct and lead that process in the right direction for you.

A business name should be the out growth of the market you are trying to reach. All names including "A new business name or Tagline" must have some part or a lot of the following comments also made by my three expert friends who participate in our forum below.

    williamarruda says…
"Your tag line should be 'catchy' and it should speak directly to your target audience and differentiation. A good place to start is to make a list of all the things that differentiate your offerings from your competitors. Then think about which of those differentiators is compelling to your target audience."

    mgoodman...
    provides these great suggestions...
"Who is the target audience? That's the most important input we need in order to help you with the name. Once we understand who the target audience is, the next question will be "What is the most important benefit they will realize if they use your service?" What makes you different from and better than your competitors?"

    JBtron...
offers a great deal of insight on this...
"To really be successful with this query in KHE, your query demands answers to a number of questions regarding your product that will help guide the naming process:

-What ARE your USPs? Why would someone go to you v. any of the other businesses?

    -Where are you located?

-What are the short- and long-term business goals for the company, and how are you going to market this new brand in a very large arena with few real players?

-What are your company’s Core Proposition and Brand Personality?

Core Prop: What makes you different? Tagline. USPs in a phrase.

    EXAMPLE:

    Bounty: The quicker picker-upper.

Brand Personality: Describe the product as a person. What is this person’s personality? Outgoing? Vivacious? Mysterious? Is this person an over-achiever? Friendly?

All these will lead to a series of statements, attributes and directions that are called a Creative Brief. With the properly developed Created Brief, virtually anyone can come up with a name that works."

This will get us started. By completely answering these questions it would make it much easier to provide you with a name that provokes your clientele to seek your business out over the others. Is there anything else I can do for you?

Hey there Kristine, it's me again.

I once read a landmark book from old times that had the most curious words about names that I had ever read. I read a lot you know and often critique books on Amazon...but the juxtaposition of the words written in this book "HIT ME" a little differently this time for some reason and I perked up and read them again nearly a dozen times. You know it struck me like a ginsue knife striking an avacado and here is what it said...

"A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches..."

BECAUSE THE PURPOSE OF A GREAT NAME IS...
Back in ancient times a name was a powerful tool that demonstrated something about the person or thing being named.

The person who named it had authority over it.

If actively and effectively "Decreed with Authority" that name would >>>>>>>PROJECT itself far into the future into many lives, villages and camps. Often times that name would still be heard and mentioned long after the individual's presence was gone. And so goes the existence of a great name because the purpose of a Great name is (please read on). In our day and age if a name is valuable enough it's name alone is invaluable and carries with it something POWERFUL...We call this power to influence things through a name... "Goodwill".

Is that what you and your organization would like to happen with the name of your company?

Would you like your name to arouse attention? Make peoples heads turn or their thoughts toward your product?

Sure you would...then take giving your company a name to be a serious Endeavour and with that said remember "Every purpose is established by counsel..."

A STORY ABOUT HOW I GOT MY NAME MAY HELP...
My name arouses attention and that's because my mother did not chose my name by accident. She intentionally chose a name that was different. Even though I'm African American, Indian and White my name is neither African, Indian, European nor American...it is Hebrew. Since Hebrew is one of the oldest languages still being used and spoken it evokes a voice from the past. When that name is present or listed among contemporary names fortunately for me it stands out as does my dark skin. The name my mother chose for me also has a powerful meaning...it means "Jehovah does succeed".

Do you want a name that's outstanding?

Sure you do! Then chose your name wisely. And you would be wise to chose a name that stands out and at the same time tells a powerful story.

So what is the story behind why you believe healthy food is important for children to eat? I know it may seem obvious but what is not obvious is "why you're deciding to enter into an industry full of healthy products without a name that carries with it a powerful story?"

When I'm introduced to people they always say something like "that's different"..."women say that's pretty, I like that", Often times people who have not heard it before tie it to a name they associate with and then they'll say "did you say Jeremiah". This opens a huge door for me to clarify, re-communicate and often share my story about how I got the name.

Do you think after a conversation like this people forget who I am? If you said no you're right!

Now if I knew that I could help you get to a name that carries a message and resonates in the human heart. Something ancient and something powerful that will spin upon the ancient cords of our DNA causing all who hear it regardless of culture to remember it's sound from times past then I would be serving you most authentically.

I know I haven’t' given you what you came here looking for originally. But if you've really heard what I've stated today you've just walked away with more than you could bargain for and it was all for Free, full of a lot of love because more than giving you a name I want you to become immensely prosperous with your new company. REMEMBER... our only real problem in life is our failure to be "MORE Creative" than we’ve ever been. If you “Invent” your opportunity YOU WILL most definitely create your future. I'm only an email away from you if you need my help. Is there anything else I can do for you?

    PS
The PURPOSE of a GREAT NAME is...I-M-P-O-R-T-A-N-T and should not only be important to you but to everyone else that here's the name.

    Hi, Kristine:

My firm works exclusively with health and wellness businesses, so my comments will reflect our experiences.

I don't think "fun" is what you need in a name. Instead, think about names that evoke:

    1) confidence in your service - even though it's non-invasive, it's fundamentally still a medical procedure. And you're selling this elective process to people at a time when their emotions are a mix of joy and apprehension about it all!

Pregnant couples worry about the effects of MANY things on the health of their baby, so you want to make sure that you avoid anything overly frivolous or silly which might suggest that you don't take a serious approach.

That's why we would also strongly suggest that you avoid cutesy names and puns. They're frivolous and juvenile - and that's not likely to be the frame of mind that your clients are in.

    2) Go for something that evokes the thrill of anticipation - the hopes and dreams and aspirations of the couples you want as your clients.

That's why Peek Of You is appealing - it conveys that thrill of anticipation ("peek", rather than "view") without being corny (unlike Womb With a View. I wouldn't use the word "womb" or any other body organ as part of a pun for your company name).

We've got a guide on our website to naming your wellness business plus a free weekly newsletter with business advice for health and wellness businesses. Our website also has a free online management library with lots of business advice on various topics.

Good luck and feel free to email me if you want to bounce a few quick ideas around.

    Kristine

Sounds like it's "Baby's First Movie".

But that's more of a product name, than a name for the business. And Leslie Nolen and Deremiah have both already provided outstanding suggestions in that area.

    Good luck
