What area or areas will your hedge fund invest in? Tying a name to the type of investments you'll be making will help connect investors with their desired outcomes.

we will be investing in just about everything but we are looking for a name that is creative not really anything related to what we invest in. A name i can put one of the following after:
...Securities
...Capital
...Capital Management
...Management
...Group

Everything?

So that includes banana skins? Dog poop? The weather a
week from Wednesday? The Second Coming of the Messiah?

No? I didn't think so.

From a marketing standpoint your statement above is a huge, huge red flag. It tells me you're not at all interested in forming a lasting bond with your clients, it tells me basically, that you don't give a crap about your customers, that their interests don't matter, and that it's only your commissions that interest you.

The S.E.C. are going to love you.

No one will buy from you until they feel they know you. No one
will feel they know you until they like you. No one will like you until they can trust you. No one will trust you if you exhibit a total lack of interest in their best interests. And as a broker, your lack of regard for your customers means few if any will sign up with you.

Creativity is all well and good, but alone, creativity does not sell, relevance does.

Relevance to outcome.

Relevance to emotion.

Relevance to imagined future.

Are you seeing a pattern here?

If you don't care about your customers, they won't care about
you, REGARDLESS of how creative your name is.

A good friend of mine is involved in high-end, luxury real estate. The units in the urban buildings he puts up sell for $10 million apiece. And that's at the cheap end.

I won't mention his name but it's a name you'd recognize.

Every detail that goes into each of the units in each of his buildings is covered by exacting specifications. I've seen him tell people to rip out $100,000 bathrooms because the colors of the tiles didn't match the exposed plumbing.

He knows that if HE'S not happy, his CLIENTS won't be happy.
And he knows this because he pays attention to the details.

And in YOUR case, the name of your fund is a detail that you're over looking—which is a mistake, a mistake that in the long run, will cost you.

So, it works like this: when businesses put their customers a head of their desire for profit and it helps theirs business—now, and in the future. But when those same business owners put their desire for a quick profit ahead of their customers, those businesses probably won't have much of a future.

Appoloosa Management is a hedge fund and the name is no relation to any investing. i would appreciate if u worried less about what we do and more about our name.

You are most welcome, and we BOTH seem to have got off on
the wrong foot. I see your point (and yes, hedge funds ARE an
alien landscape to me), and, it seems, marketing might be a
similar environment for you.

While any name as such might not make a connection for the
movers and shakers behind the company, product, or service,
in the eyes of the people buying the product, names can and
do help to make connections that support the decision to buy.

Granted, in certain niches or markets, this isn't ALWAYS the
case, but in direct response marketing it often is.
