Looking For A Name/logo For Exotic Business

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Please help me find the perfect name/logo for my business. I've running a small business that sells hand-made crafts from South America (earrings, pendants, repro Inca art, spondyllus pieces, vegetable ivory mini sculptures, etc) over the Net and Street Fairs. These are exotic, unique goods made from nature (clay, plants, fish scales, conch, and wood). I'm ready to expand, but I'm stuck looking for the perfect name. I've been using "artecosa". It is a combination of art, eco, and cosa (thing in Spanish). THANKS.

    Hi ortunow,

A little more information would be helpful.

Where are the street fairs? what country? Also, please describe your current customers? Can we see the products on a website?

    How about --

    “Equator of the Sun”

Equatorial (something) like Equatorial Art Crafts

    South America’s Treasures

    Hope this helps,

Watch your usage of the word "exotic", which you used to describe your product. In America, exotic often refers to sexually oriented products/services.

There are some articles at https://shorterlink.com/?W32PXG (which will redirect to a page at www.nolo.com) related to choosing a business name. These articles would be god at ensuring you choose a name that is legal, available, and effective.

Anyone remember the small ceramic animals from South America sold in the 70's/80's under the brand Artesania Rinconada ("The artesan's corner" - I think?).

I like Artecosa. Maybe with a tagline like "A gift from nature" to underline the reason why someone might buy.

    Good luck.

Me too! I like Artecosa. Add a short tagline that gives a little more information, and I'd say you have a good start.

The website is a good idea, but be sure you know what you're getting into. In the old bricks-and-mortar world, location is everything for a retailer. (Nobody could find you if you're on a side street in the wrong part of town.)

When you have a website, you're no better off than being on that side street UNLESS you have a way to direct them to your store. And that takes time and money.

If I were you, I'd continue to do the street fair thing, perhaps start buying booth space at craft fairs (which are numerous in Westchester County, Connecticut, Long Island, and New Jersey), and perhaps expanding to in-home parties where you sell your wares.

The Internet approach has the potential to suck a lot of time, energy, and money long before it starts to pay back big dividends.

I know that's not what you were asking, but since you now have a name (Artecosa), it's time to deal with your business strategy!

Good luck. (Let me know if I can help further.)

    Hello Everyone,

Need a little help. Am starting up an online business in UAE and am a bit caught up as am trying to figure out what name to zero in on. It is fashion jewellery with mostly exotic items from India (necklace beads, etc.). I wanted it to sound exotic but at the same time fashionable and yet classy aiming at women that are 25 yrs and above. I will need a baseline and a logo idea as well.....Any ideas that you can throw my way, would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks - Sush.
