Tagline For Project Management Consulting Group

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello all,

I need to come up with a tagline for a project management consulting group.

We are a PM group embedded into a business consulting firm so our name is very generic (not a typical consulting catchy name). Our name is Company Name - Project Management Group.

We provide project management services to the health-care industry, specifically speciality hospitals that focus / specialize in treating specific illnesses. The services we provide are project management for large-scale complex business projects, Coaching & Mentoring for client's PMs, Corporate University & Training to enhance PM skill set within the clients organization.

The main focus of why we do what we do is to help the clients be efficient and effective in treating their patients.

Any help I could get with a few taglines would be extremely appreciated!

Thanks!

Between the long name of the company (15 syllables!), and the identification of your group as "Project Management Group," I worry that adding a tagline will make your identity statement into a paragraph -- and a paragraph that will confuse your target audience more than it will help them. (You have more syllables in the name than in this sentence!)

WHY do you want a tagline? Are you concerned that your target audience won't know what Project Management is? Or is it that you think "Project Management" doesn't adequately capture what you do?

What do you want to communicate with a tagline? How will that benefit your group? How will you know if it's working/doing what you want it to do?

    Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate the thoughts shared and they made me think. I agree with your statement about it becoming a paragraph and I would have to consider the implications of that going forward. Any other ideas for a group name? We may have some flexibility in changing it but again it most likely will need to fall into a generic name as I know my company and what they like and accept whether it is good or not is a different story.

Why do we need a tagline?
    1. We are new service offering for our clients (although the company has been in existence for years).
    2. Our client's Senior Leadership asked our company to add this as a service offering to them but after further investigation it is not clear that even they know what PM really is. They know about it but don't really know what the full methodology entails or what all of the benefits are. There is limited to no actual PM occurring in our clients organization so all levels of employees have no real concept of what PM is.
    3. We are developing our launch materials (a brochure about our services and what PM really is) to the C-Levels and Senior Executive team

With all that being said - the reason I was thinking we needed a tagline was so that it could simply state why what we are offering is a benefit to the organization. If they take one thing away from this brochure - this would be it. I want them to be able to internalize the benefit and when asked by someone else why they should have a PM I would like these people to say .....insert tagline....

I am not sure if maybe what I am thinking of isn't really what a tagline is so apologies on that front if that is the case. I would still appreciate any further help.

Again, thank you for helping me think this through and for providing the insights and thoughts above.

    Hi,

After thinking about this a little more I realized one of the next logical questions you may ask would be around what I see are the benefits of this service offering..so I am adding them now.

    •Increased efficiency/productivity
    •Improved quality
    •Improved communications
•Formal framework to deliver more positive outcomes
    •Reduced risk of project failure
•Increased delivery to time, scope and budget

    Thanks!

You have 2 naming issues: 1) for people who don't know what PM can do for them and 2) for people who are comparing PM companies. For 2) you need to highlight a unique benefit. Your list of benefits, while a bit generic, focus on 1).

Instead of "Project Management Group" can you shorten the name to "The Project Team" or "Project Consultants"? Then your tagline can mention something like: "Efficiently Managing Your Company's Resources".

    Hello all,

thank you for your input. I feel like I have a lot more information and direction on this then I did when I posted this which is greatly appreciated. I am closing the question. I haven't decided what the name is going to be or the tagline but I like the suggestions and will use those as a baseline to come up with something. Thank you both very much.

    Kind regards.
