Tagline For Writing Service

Posted by hotbuttons on 125 Points
Hi all! After years of coming up with written material for friends, employers, etc, I have decided to slowly work towards turning my hobby into a business. At this point I am unsure of the areas I will concentrate on (copywriting, editing, reports, etc) however the business name I have registered is called "In Black & White" with a corresponding website of blackandwhitecopy.com. I'm now trying to come up with a memorable tagline that compliments the business name. I want to convey that communicating should be kept simple yet not undermine the value of my services. Some initial thoughts:

BECAUSE COMMUNICATION SHOULD BE THAT SIMPLE

CLEAR COPY THAT SELLS

BECAUSE CONVEYING YOUR MESSAGE SHOULD BE THAT EASY (OR SIMPLE??)

WE SIMPLY WRITE THE RIGHT WORDS

Again, just a start however your feedback and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

** Same goes for complimentary colors for biz card and website. Obviously using black/white theme yet need an accent. I was thinking green.

Thanks!

Hi, Love the concept of your business.
Black and white is often countered with "gray".

I would utilize that in your tagline.

    Such as
Removing the gray areas from your communication.

Eliminating the gray in what you have to say

No gray areas just clear communication

You may want to utilize a bright brilliant blue flair design with gray wording for your tagline.

    "Eureka!"

Is it too cliche to add the closing of the classic idiom 'And Read All Over'?

    If so, how about ...
KEEPING YOUR BUSINESS OUT OF THE SHADOWS.

    GoodLuck from a fellow 'Hobbyist'.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Some good ideas. I have been busy "surfing" for most of the day trying to see what is already out there and how I will position myself in the saturated writing market.

Have hit many "copywriting guru" sites and must admit that I am a little turned off by the visuals or perhaps better, the lack thereof. I tend to be picky (anal?! ha ha) and like for things to look nice and pleasing to the eye. Seems to me that most sites just use a sales letter pitch and tout themselves/seminars/abilities with an "in your face" approach. Obviously this must be working if so many utilize however how can I convey the same while still creating a professional looking image? I'm not "haughty tauty" mind you (actually quite a sarcastic nutbar if you must know the truth) and will be targeting the small to mid-size business. The tagline I eventually settle on will set the tone of the site and business in general.

As per the last post, yes, a hobbyist myself who has been toying with this idea for quite awhile. If I could go back years ago to when I went to school I would have majored in communications and marketing so as to have a business now that I enjoy as much as I do the writing/marketing. Never too late I suppose and I do look forward to this adventure. Any tips on breaking into the market would also be appreciated.

Keep the suggestions coming. You guy's are awesome!

Wow! Lots to choose from here. Some very good tag lines, many of them in the same realm of my own.

Do you guys think my accent color should be gray? Would it seem boring?

    Your thoughts on black/white/red?

    Hello,

    How about:

    "The Write Stuff"

"In black and white. And always re(a)d"

    Good luck!

Many thanks for all of the input. Very much appreciated and I'll keep you posted as I plug along.

I'm going to go with the b/w with a deep red accent for the business colors.

It was hard to choose just one answer because all of your ideas have merit. The two that I settled on were done so mainly because their suggestions were almost carbon copy to a paper brainstorming session I did prior to posting. There was one in particular that was word for word. Wow!

    Thanks again!
